I teach at Swinburne and NMIT, and also offer workshops, courses and seminars at various locations in photography, writing and publishing, business development and personal development.

I pride myself in being outstanding educator, usually getting 5 out of 5 for his teaching on student surveys and ringing endorsements from my workshop participants.

I also teaches through my blogs and websites, the main ones being:

Digital ImageMaker International

A Writer's Quest

A 3rd Way

I live in Melbourne, Australia, with my wife, Adriana, a painter, and daughter, Lauren, also a keen photographer and artist, plus two cats who haven't figured themselves out yet.

I am happy to talk.

I'm cursed with one prime characteristic, an immense curiousity about everything. So while many others have happily pursued one career and many others several, I have pursued many, often simultaneously. This makes the party question "and what do you do for a living" one of the few questions I find difficult to answer quickly.

I combine this immense curiousity with outstanding visual, analytical and communication skills. In fact communication is the thread that ties everything together. So at the present time my life revolves around communication (as well as my wife and daughter, who are the true centres the universe). I communicate through my image making, which is deeply conceptual and symbolic, writing and teaching. I also make strong use of my communication skills in helping others to communicate, through the development of websites and publishing assistance.

My image making practice encompasses a huge range of styles and subjects, as is necessary for teaching, but strong personal directions lie in infrared photography, time-focused studies and conceptual image creation. I'm at my happiest when out in the landscape shooting infrared, doing experimental time images and at the computer composing some composite image.

Writing is a large part of my life, with an active program of books underway, a magazine and multiple blogs, as well as writing for other people, such as for HP. A novel is also underway.

I've been teaching since, as a third year undergraduate student, the university put me in front of the first years as a tutor. A 20 year career followed as a univerity researcher and educator until leaving to pursue other things. However teaching worked its way back into my life and since leaving this fulltime academic post I've run the photography degree at the Australian Academy of Design, taught photography at other institutions, been an RTO consultant to still more training organisations and more. I now teach at Swinburne University of Technology in web and interaction design, at NMIT in writing and publishing, and run an active program of workshops, seminars and courses in photography, business development and writing.
